HOLIDAYS. .. FAMILY AND FRIENDS TIME

Hi, how are you doing these days?
The last Thursday we started our trip to Catalonia to spend holidays with my family. It's always an exciting and lovely time and since Ilianna was born she is the only grandchild so, as you can imagine the reunion it's even more emotive.

That was the beginning of our trip inside the train that goes through the channel tunnel between United Kingdom and France. then eleven hours of driving until Catalonia.

This is Arbúcies a town where years ago I used to live, my parents live just 10 minutes away from it so, I go to visit any time I can, it's a really lovely place and I have some friends that live there.

This year's Christmas Tree, Ilianna is in love with it :)

This is Ilianna's Tió, it's a typical Christmas character  in Catalonia you can find more information if you would like to know more about it  here

Last night it was the Winter Solstice, also known as Yule. Did you celebrate it at all? We did a little kind of ritual, nothing special just being aware of this moment of time.

The Winter Solstice, the rebirth of the Sun, is an important turning point, as it marks the shortest day, when the hours of daylight are at their least. It's also the start of the increase in the hours of daylight until the Summer Solstice, when darkness becomes ascendant again.

For me it's very important not to lose this connection with the wheel of the year because as it marks the movement of nature with its different seasons it helps me to understand the different rhythms in my body.
With the Winter Solstice our homes scents become more spicy and warm, the brightness of the fire it gives a different light to our rooms making you feel more comfortable being indoors, when the cold and darkness are the only ones who dare being outdoors.

How do you feel in Winter, do you like the way everything turns around you? Does your body changes its rhythm with this season?
Let me know about it if you would like, leaving a comment below.

Hope you enjoyed the Solstice!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Be very happy!

See you all soon

  1. Happy Winter Solstice! Yes, we did celebrate. This earth, her seasons, and the shifts between seasons are very important to our family, and we are deeply connected to nature, so these days are very important to us. They represent the rhythm of our year, and with that rhythm things change in our day to day lives based on the seasons. This time of year the candles are burning at night, the fire is on, we tuck ourselves in a little earlier each night, and snuggle in a little longer in the morning, we drink lots of tea, and bundle up warm to head outside. It is a wonderful time of year, and for me a time of reflection, of what was and what will be.

Enjoy the time with your family. Enjoy your holiday week, and soak up all the goodness. xo

  2. Such a beautiful town your parents live near! It is straight out of a picture book! Your tree and Christmas character up there are perfect as well friend! I too like feeling the rhythms of the season! Creating warmth in our home through blankets and fires...though this winter is a bit mild. I do wish we would get some snow soon! So glad you were able to be with your family! Wishing you a blessed week! Nicole xoxo

    1. Yes Nicole, it really is a nice place the town near to my parent's. Even if is not very cold the shortest days make you wanna be indoors rather than outside. I am sure you will have some snow soon :)
